  The Learning Lamp & Ignite Education Solutions is looking for a part-time Title 1 Teacher in a Johnstown nonpublic school!

This position will be January 10th to April 15th, 2-3 days per week, with a GREAT hourly rate!

Successful candidate will be Elementary Certified K-6, Special Education and/or Reading Specialist.

Position Purpose:

The Title I teacher will provide supplemental tutoring services in math and reading to students at assigned nonpublic schools.

Accountability:

The Title 1 Teacher reports directly to the Assistant Director of Tutoring and Special Services.

Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accesses and refers to the academic standards for the subject level specific to assigned students.
  • Uses the supplemental materials that are most appropriate for each child's ability.
  • Has regular contact with the students' classroom teacher(s) and uses teacher input to assist in choosing appropriate activities.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with students' homeroom teachers, parents and Ignite Education Solutions.
  • Submits a quarterly progress report times per year to the private school, the school district and Ignite (forms found in Title I Handbook).
  • Accesses students' IEPs (or non-public equivalent) if needed and if desired by cooperating school district.
  • Reviews the Title I Teacher Handbook and understands how to use the forms included.
  • Keeps a record of student attendance and lesson logs.
  • Provides services according to direction given by Ignite and keeps track of the number of hours worked at each nonpublic school for each district to be sure to stay within the hour guidelines provided.
  • Creates a schedule that includes up to 15 minutes of prep time for every hour of instructional time with students. (Apart from the allotted prep, your schedule may not include time that is not direct, pull out instruction with students.  Any non-instruction time is not billable above/beyond the 15 minutes of prep/hour.  Issues with scheduling should be directed to your supervisor at Ignite.)
  • Submits a bimonthly update to Ignite or as requested.
  • Tracks and submits data to Ignite to demonstrate success of the program.
  • Distributes and collects student, parent, tutor, teacher and building principal surveys mid-year and at the end of the year and then submits the completed surveys to Ignite.
  • Provides Title I services that are pull out only.
  • Provides services to students who have submitted a signed permission slip only.
  • Provides Ignite with a student list and updates the student list as needed.
  • Travels between nonpublic schools as needed on a daily basis.

Prep Time Requirements:

Title I teachers are entitled to:

  • Up to 4 hours of time at the start of the school year spent to meet with new schools and create a schedule. Additional time must be approved by the Assistant Director of Tutoring and Special Services at Ignite.
  • 25 hours (15 minutes) of prep time for every hour of instruction.
  • 30 minutes of prep time to complete progress reports and surveys with a caseload of 15-20 students.
  • 15 minutes of prep time to complete progress reports and surveys with a caseload of 5-15 students.

  • Problem solving and leaderships skills
  • Maintain accurate record keeping system
  • Training in and ability to modify/adapt general education curriculum
  • Strong behavior management and positive discipline skills

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in early childhood/elementary education from an accredited college or university
  • Certification in Elementary Education, Special Education or Reading Specialist
